UC Davis All-Stars Bloom at the Willows!
The UC Davis All-Stars have come to town! The Willows Shopping Center in Concord is the venue where the All-Stars will perform 24/7 year round in planters and landscape surrounding the shops and parking areas. The gala Open House was held on Saturday, September 25, 2010. Admission to see the All-Stars in action is free of charge.

The Story of Our Garden.

In Spring 2009, Contra Costa Master Gardeners joined with the Contra Costa Times to begin the Our Garden project. Our Garden has been an ongoing collaborative edible garden managed by dedicated volunteers and supported by generous sponsors, a focal point for Master Gardener educational activities. Short demonstrations and classes taught every Wednesday from April through October offer the public a free and open venue for up close and personal learning about the process of growing one's own food. All food produced by Our Garden is donated to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties.

PHIG-Spring 2010 flowers

Pleasant Hill Instructional Garden Bears Fruit!
Since 2007, a bare dirt expanse next to an old gravel parking lot across the dead-ended street from Pleasant Hill Middle School has been transformed into the Pleasant Hill Instructional Garden or PHIG. It has been developed under the leadership of Master Gardener Monika Olsen (2000) and a diverse corps of volunteers, businesses and government agencies that believe in the need to educate people on the importance of sustainability, conservation and restoration of the balance of nature in an urban environment.

Los Medanos Community Garden Opens!
August 14, 2010 saw the grand opening of the Los Medanos Community Health District's Community Garden in Pittsburg, California. Many organizations collaborated to bring this wonderful new community resource to fruition.
